Winter Fashion

Fall is becoming a memory of the past as the temperatures slowly but surely keep dropping. While it would be easy to get upset about saying goodbye to the gorgeous, golden hues of autumn trees, it’s much better to try and stay positive about the situation. After all, there is at least one reason to be excited about winter. What’s that, you ask?

The fashion!

There’s something so fun about bundling up in cozy winter clothing (even if it is crucial to our comfort and survival, but that’s beside the point). Think about it. When else can you wear adorable knit beanies and big, beautiful coats? Winter opens up a whole slew of new opportunities for fabulous fashion, and for that reason, I welcome Old Man Winter.

Wondering how you too can embrace the cold weather? Well, there are certainly some must-haves to survive the season in style. Check them out below.

Faux Fur

If you’re looking to combine a luxurious look with ultimate coziness, a faux fur coat is an essential. Since fur is known to be a symbol of wealth, you’ll feel like an old-school movie star as you strut in your faux fur coat—extra points if you wear one that’s cheetah or leopard print like NBC New York suggests.

Velvet

Undeniably THE fabric of the season, velvet is another luxe touch that will instantly glam up your winter wardrobe. Luckily for you, velvet is adorning every piece of clothing and accessory this year, making the trend extremely versatile and easy for anyone to wear.

Wool Hat

Hats are definitely having a moment lately, and once you find the styles that fit your face, it’s easy to become addicted. Wide-brimmed hats made summertime vacations fun Instagrammable moments, and now we’re seeing wool versions of fedoras and other cool hat shapes spring up to take on the cold months. Lyst has plenty of holiday gift guides full of ideas for holiday cocktail party looks that include some awesome hats. Try a wool fedora instead of a beanie every now and then this season to mix things up.

Metallic

Since winter is known for its bevy of holiday festivities, you’d be crazy not to have a stunning metallic dress or skirt in your closet. Metallic pieces are super trendy right now according to Fashion Allure and add an extra dimension to your look with shining gold and silver tones. You can’t go wrong with adding a metallic item to your closet.

Over-the-Knee Boots

When OTK boots first hit the style scene, only the most daring fashion enthusiasts adopted the trend. It is a bold look after all. However, this year, it seems that everyone has taken hold of the sexy shoe trend, and it only seems to be gaining steam as we head into wintertime. Whether you’re a fan of heeled or flat boots, you definitely need a pair of thigh-highs to bring your winter wardrobe to new heights.
